Lot 758

1854 N-12 R2. NGC graded MS-64 Brown. Repunched 1. Very attractive lustrous light olive and chocolate with 10% of the mint color showing on both sides. Virtually flawless except for the usual shallow low spot on the neck and another around CEN in CENT (both caused by debris on the die). The only marks, and they are barely visible, are two tiny ticks in the dentils over star 6. A choice example. MDS, die state b. The repunching under the base of the 1 is dull but remains visible while the fields are covered with fine radial die flowlines. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#3 honors among the business strikes of this variety.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
