Lot 728

1853 N-10 R1. MS-60 Plus. Repunched Date. Lustrous light olive and bluish steel with 10-15% of the frosty mint red remaining. Excellent luster and eye appeal, just a few tiny marks from choice. These include a spot of reddish brown toning inside the bottom of the 3, a speck of carbon over the left top of the T in LIBERTY, and a small nick in the center of the cheek. MDS, die state b. The dash under the 1 and the repunching inside the top of the 8 are clear, but the repunching at the top of the 5 & 3 is faint. The fields are satiny from microscopic radial die flowlines. An attractive cent in spite of the minor marks. Noyes photo #31804.
Estimated Value $250-UP.
