Lot 727

1853 N-10 R1. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Repunched Date. Lustrous steel brown and light chocolate with slightly faded mint color covering nearly a third of the planchet. The surfaces are satiny and this cent is absolutely choice except for a small splash of darker toning between stars 12 & 13. A speck of raised verdigris is located in this spot of darker toning. The only other notable defect is a tiny tick on the front end of the eyebrow. MDS, die state b. The repunching inside the top of the 8 and below the base of the 1 remains clear, but the repunching on the tops of the 5 & 3 is barely visible. Our grade is MS63.
Estimated Value $700 - 750.

Realized $1,200
