Lot 727

1853 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. Arrows and rays. NGC graded AU-58. Somebody sent this in for grading because it looks Uncirculated. We don't in fact imagine it ever got into commercial use, but some faint rub shows beneath the color on the obverse. But we mean faint. It's an original looking grayish silver in color, all over, no splotches, very even. A huge diebreak extends to the border from the left arrow, and another, finer one does the same thing from the right arrow. Sharp strike. A desirable coin in every respect.

Realized $368
