Battery A, First Middle Tennessee Light Artillery--A Federal Company. Lithograph celebrating the company which was recruited at Memphis in June 1862 from Northerners who were in the South when the war broke out. 21"x 17¼", lithographed and printed by Chas. Shober, Chicago (c. June 1863). With patriotic scenes at the top, a list of the officers (commanded by Capt. Ephraim P. Abbot), privates, etc, and an explanation at the bottom about the formation of the company, and some of the hardships it had gone through. The company was still at Clarksville, Tenn when the lithograph was made. It ends with two patriotic verses; the first says: "Long may this patriot band / On the hills of Clarksville stand, Ready to fight their country's foe, And give the traitors a death-blow…." The company fought throughout the war and was mustered out in July 1865. Very good; a 9" closed tear on verso; overall toning and some edge chipping.
Estimated Value $300 - 500.
