Petition for a Warrant "to Hold a Lodge in the Army." Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, September 1814. Rare. The petition before the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania notes that a number of its members are now enrolled in the U.S. Army, and wish to establish a lodge within the ranks, so "… that the benefits of Masonry should be diffused as completely as possible among the members of the Detachment…" The petition was granted as "Warrant No. 140." Large paper sheet folded in half to size: 13-1/2" x 8-1/4." But for one small hole, well preserved, with intense ink. Along with this, two smaller fragments, inscribed, broken along deeply creased folds. Lot of 3 pieces.
