Lot 448

1825 N-10 R3 G5. Double Struck over Off-Center Obverse Brockage. Mostly glossy steel and chocolate mixed with olive brown in protected areas. The surfaces are decent but not perfectly smooth under magnification. No marks or verdigris. Dramatically double struck. The first impression was an obverse brockage strike positioned about 65% off center to K-2. The second strike was normal and centered on the planchet. Strong, obvious evidence of the first strike shows on both sides. Much of Ms Liberty's profile hovers above and behind the centered visage while incuse stars and dentils from the off-center obverse brockage cover the lower right quadrant of the reverse. The second strike was rotated about 25 degrees CW relative to the off-center strike. A modest grade but a fabulous mint error.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
