Transylvania. Ducat, 1683. Fr-448; Resch-245; Hess-1075; KM-476. 3.43 grams. 22.24 mm. Fogaras mint. Michael Apafi, 1661-1690. Armored three-quarter bust right with fur hat. Scepter on right shoulder, left hand on sword hilt. Leg: MIC:APAFI - D:G:P:TRA: Reverse: Crowned complex arms; below AF. Leg: PAR:REG:HVNGARIAE:DO: & SICV:CO:1683. Considerable original mint luster. NGC graded MS-63.

Michael Apafi actually produced some wonderful material. He was looked at as a traitor by the local populace for his collaboration with the Turks.
