Great Britain. Medal, 1688. Woolf-4:1b; MI-644, 72; Eimer-300v. Silver 14.4 grams. 31.6 mm. by Christian Wermuth, Gotha. Flight of Prince James. Father Petre, riding on a lobster, carries the infant Prince who wears a windmill on his head. Behind them is a French ship. Reverse: An armorial shield bearing a windmill, crowned with a Jesuit's cap from which hangs a rosary with a pendent lobster. Variety on the reverse 'HONY. SOIT. QVI. NON. Y. PENSE. (Shame to him who does not think of this.) Medallic Illustrations indicates this variety as very rare. NGC graded MS-63.
