Sinatra, Frank (1915- 1998) "Old Blue Eyes" The legend, recognized around the world as one of greatest popular singers. He became known in the 1940s, singing with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra (1940-2) and had hits such as "I'bottom left Never Smile Again" and "Without a Song". His appeal diminished for a spell but was revived with a bang as his acting performance in From Here to Eternity (1953) garnered him an Oscar. He also starred in the much acclaimed The Manchurian Candidate (1962). With the momentum produced by the acting, the singing took off again and many of his classics including "That's Life" (1966) and "My Way" (1969) come from this era.
