Byzantine Empire. Heraclius, 610-641 Gold Semissis (2.19 g), Constantinople mint, struck 610-613 AD. Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: Cross potent on globe; Officina E. SBC 784; DOC 51b. Some modest striking weakness, and die-clashing and graffiti evident on reverse. However, nice portrait for this issue. Also, a Solidus (4.02 g), of Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Struck 441-450 AD., Constantinople. Diademed and helmeted three-quarter facing bust, spear over shoulder. Reverse: Constantinopolis enthroned left, holding globus cruciger; poorly written inscription: IMP XXXXII COS XVII P P. RIC 285; DOCLR 423. Condition: Fine; with scratches and nicks. Lot of 2 coins. First coin: Nearly Extremely Fine.
