Hadrian, 117-138 AD. Gold Aureus (7.31 g), Rome, struck 134-138 AD. Among the scarcest variety of the "Egypt" issues. Laureate and draped bust left. Reverse: Figure of Egypt reclining left, holding sistrum, arm upon basket, ibis at left: AEGYPTOS. RIC 296j; C. 98; Calico 1186. Sharply struck with high relief portrait in choice style. Pleasing example of very popular type. Choice Very Fine.
