Bosporos, Kings of. Rhoemetalkes, c. 132-154 AD. Gold Stater (7.82 g), struck 134/135 AD. Draped and diademed bust of king right. Reverse: Laureate head of Hadrian right, dynastic date below (431). Frolova p. 145, pl. XIX, 26 (same dies). Sharp, with unusually high quality portraits for the Bosporan issues. The coin also of seemingly higher gold content -- rare thus. A very choice example of type. Softly lustrous. Choice Extremely Fine.
