Lucania. Thourioi, c. 400 BC. AR Double Nomos (15.44g). Head of Athena right wearing crested Attic helmet, with raised figure of Skylla over brow. Reverse: Bull butting right, ethnic above, fish in exergue. Cf. SNG ANS 970; Dewing 429.Well centered on somewhat tight flan; light soft gray toning, and showing a little scattered light porosity on reverse. A popular and accomplished work of numismatic art. While the obverse die lacks the famed "Φ" signature, the work is hardly any less fine. Bold Very Fine.
