Lot 3246

Great Britain. Crown, 1934. S.4036; ESC-374; Dav-110; KM-836. George V. Obverse; Bertram McKennal's portrait of King left, GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX. Reverse; Kruger Gray's iconic design of a large crown (and date) within an ornate wreath. Uncirculated and lustrous, this is the last and rarest date in the much collected 'Wreath Crown' series. Seldom found in this high grade, the 1934 Crown is a twentieth century numismatic classic. NGC graded MS-63 Silver Sticker. WINGS Approved.

*Only 932 Crowns were struck in 1934 making it one of the rarest and most desirable British Crowns. Compare this extremely low mintage with the 714,769 Crowns minted in the following year (1935). It is also worth noting that the 1935 coins were retained as souvenirs of the King's Silver Jubilee in that year and therefore there remains a huge supply of the later coins. Many 1934 Crowns were melted or simply worn down by use in commerce. This is an exceptional specimen.
Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,500.
