1895 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 64. Beautiful blue and lilac toning on both sides. 880 Proofs struck. Regardless of the fate of the missing 1895 business strike dollars, there is no question the numerous Morgan dollar connoisseurs dream about owning a rare Proof specimen. The original delivery was 880 pieces as part of the Proof sets that year. Bowers, in his two-ton encyclopedia of Silver Dollars posits that as few as 700 are left today. With a crisp strike and a rich colorful patina, this near-gem Proof 64 is clearly ahead of most other survivors. The nicely reflective fields display a few hairlines that, preclude a full Proof 65 grade. All the same, words can barely convey the effect that this lovely coin will have on Morgan enthusiasts and eager bidders when it goes on the auction block. Pop 55; 37 finer; 14 in 65; 17 in 66; 5 in 67; 1 in 68. (PCGS # 7330) .
Estimated Value $40,000 - 42,000.

Realized $49,450
