Lot 3056

1907 $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-62. A nice strike and untoned. It's a funny thing, in its day, a $10 gold piece like this 1907 Liberty head would have been shunned by the public, who preferred to do their transactions using more convenient $10 bills ("promised money" or "money substitutes"). Now, when all we see are money substitutes parading around as real money, coin collectors prefer "hard money", a.k.a. The Real Thing. Ten dollars in gold was a lot of money back then. A $10 gold piece is still a lot of money today because it takes so many modern $10 bills to acquire just one $10 coin! (PCGS # 8673) .
Estimated Value $800 - 825.
Ex: Superior Worrell Collection September 1993 Lot 1730.

Realized $949
