Macedonia. Neapolis, c. 500-480 BC. AR Stater (8.97 g). Facing Gorgoneion head. Reverse: Four-part incuse square. Svoronos, Hellenisme Primitif, pl. 9, 33; SNG ANS 411; Dewing 1064. Finely centered and well struck up, with diagnostic die break along curls of hair. Toned, on remarkably fine metal. Choice Very Fine.
