Spain. An outstanding Order of Isabella the Catholic Grand Cross Breast Star. The highest class star of the order, in gilt silver and multi-color enamels, 78 mm, pinback. Vintage 1940s-1950s. Werlich-1178. The order was first established in 1815 for Spanish Colonial services, but is now awarded for civil or military merit. All of the enameling is perfect and the hand painted center is exquisite and among the finest artistry and craftsmanship we have seen on this type. Choice About Uncirculated with only slight wear to the still bright gilding.
