Ty Cobb Signed Cover, 1927, Original Hall of Famer. Tyrus Raymond Cobb (1886-1961) "The Georgia Peach" spent 22 seasons with the Detroit Tigers with his final six as a player-manager, followed by a year with the Philadelphia Athletics. He was one of the original "Immortal Five" originally inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 with the highest percentage of votes for almost 60 years. Cobb's batting records were nothing short of miraculous, his aggressive play legendary. He proved a very successful businessman after baseball, but he remained outspoken and opinionated true to his character. A lot has been written about his bouts of violence and possible racism, some of it true, so much has been proven outright fabrication. One thing is certain, he is considered as the best player of the dead-ball era, and generally seen as one of the greatest players of all time. Offered here is a signed commemorative cover celebrating the first airmail service in Cleveland, signed by Cobb boldly and almost dead center left of his name. Some toning, otherwise excellent. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200
