Sale 96

Lot 264

1794 S-32 R2 G5. Slightly sharper but there are patches of roughness on the obverse, strongest along the bottom of the cap where specks of raised greenish verdigris are visible. The surfaces were lightly smoothed to minimize the roughness. Slightly glossy chocolate and darker steel brown with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. The date and legends are complete and easily readable except for most of LIBERTY, which is gone. What makes this cent special is the very rare die state. EDS, Breen state I, before the radial die crack through the first S in STATES. Estimate Value $300 - UP
