Lot 2506

1903 $10 Liberty. PCGS graded Proof 65. Lovely rich orange toning on both sides. Very choice for the grade. This is a richly colored Gem whose surfaces are enfolded in warm embrace of orange-gold shades. We have no issue about the strike, all features possess razor-sharp detail that could only result from Proof production methods in the early 20th century. Brilliant in finish, both sides have drop-dead gorgeous deep mirrored reflectivity that appears to go to infinity at indirect light angles. One of the most affordable Tens delivered after the turn of the century, although possibly no more than half the original number are believed extant. A reverse toned area on the eagle's claw would serve as an adequate provenance marker (PCGS # 8843) .
Estimated Value $30,000 - 33,000.

Realized $34,500
