Lot 228

1847 N-27 R4 MS63. Lustrous mint red delicately mellowing to light steel brown on the highpoints, about two-thirds of the original color remaining. Would rate a slightly higher grade if not for a small spot left of star 1, another over star 10, a couple very tiny ticks on the nose, and a barely visible scuff on the neck near the curls. E-MDS, die state b. The reverse is uncracked and the die lines over ERI are gone. CC#2 behind a marginally better piece that has far less original mint color. DWH #2074.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
