Lot 227

1847 N-26 R3+ VG10. Close to F12 with a few too many light contact marks for the higher grade, including a couple small rim nicks at STA. Attractive glossy light to medium brown with smooth surfaces. Extremely rare terminal die state, die state g, with two separate rim cud breaks at ES in STATES plus the larger one at OF-A. The margins of the three cuds are clear in spite of the relatively low grade. Tied for CC#4 of only 7 known in the terminal state (Newcomb's old N-17 very late). DWH #3233.
Estimated Value $40-UP.
Ex Bob Grellman (who acquired it from an unrecorded source on 2/91) 7/25/06.

Realized $230
