1937 Liberty Walking Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 65. A lovely white coin. After only a few strikes by the Proof dies, the dies had to be removed from the press and relapped to strengthen the mirror finish (which tended to wear away quickly on this intricately designed coin). After numerous such repolishings, a portion of the design began to fade away, as seen in a few weak sun rays and OD of GOD, for instance. Definitely a Gem Proof with gleaming surfaces and spot-free originality. Only 5,728 struck (PCGS # 6637) .
