Lot 204

1847 N-15 R4+ Repunched 1 & 7 MS62. Attractive lustrous light bluish steel brown with 10% of the original mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. Would rate a choice grade except for a spot of fine carbon dust at the dentils right of star 9 and a speck of carbon touching the wreath under the N in CENT. Excellent luster and eye appeal in spite off the minor flaws. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state a. (There is no state b for this variety.) The fine die finishing lines and date repunching are clear. CC#2 with only 3 known in mint state. Comes with a great provenance. DWH #2406.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
