Lot 2032

1916-D Mercury Dime. MS-60 Plus. Full Bands. Light hairlines. Propably cleaned years ago but this has very little influence over the coin's attractive appearance. Since our observation is that this date is rarely fully struck, then this sharp coin has every suggestion of precision manufacture as seen in hair at the brow, the wing on the cap, and the fasces with its strong bands, but the cross bands and those that are on the diagonal. Only 264,000 1916-D Dimes were released; nearly the entire mintage found its way into circulation, which accounts for the rarity in Mint condition. (Modern hoarding techniques have changed all that.) (PCGS # 4906) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.

Realized $8,913
