1870 Quarter Dollar Octagonal Liberty. Breen and Gillio-789. Rarity 4. PCGS graded MS-64. Lovely golden toning. Semi-reflective surfaces. This is the coarse lantern-head "Goofy" or "Ugly" head variety by an unknown manufacturer. Collectors have been scratching their heads ever since these first appeared. Light strike on two stars on the right. Pop 10; 1 finer in 65 (PCGS # 10616) .
