Lot 179

1847 N-2 R3 Large 7 over Small 7 MS60. Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. The surfaces are satiny and very attractive. Would rate a slightly higher grade but there is a very fine hairline scratch from the bust tip to below star 1 and a speck of carbon just right of star 8. LDS, die state c. The die lines at star 13 are gone and there are fine die cracks at MER and ED. The date repunching remains clear and the so-called "Small 7" is obvious above the normal 7. Tied for CC#5 overall but finest of the late die state. A very nice example of this popular "Redbook" variety. DWH #2061 (PCGS # 37367) .
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
