1794 C-6a R5+. VG-10. Small Edge Letters. A couple points sharper but the fields and protected areas are covered with extremely faint microscopic roughness. No verdigris. The only marks are a faint vertical scuff on the cheek and a couple dull contact marks on the 9 & 4 in the date. Dark steel with lighter steel brown and chocolate highpoints. The highpoints are slightly glossy while the fields are closer to matte. The date is bold and the legends are complete and mostly strong, although RTY in LIBERTY and the opposing ICA in AMERICA are relatively weak due to an uneven strike causing weakness in those areas. The reverse is rotated 15 degrees CW. Weight 100.5 grains. This is the plate coin for the variety in Roger Cohen's first edition of his half cent book.
