Lot 168

1797 S-121a Plain Edge R7-. Fair-2. Mostly glossy chocolate brown with darker chocolate toning in protected areas. No corrosion or verdigris, but the planchet is covered with light nicks. The obverse is more detailed than the reverse, as usual for this die pair. The date is complete and easily readable and LIBERTY is clear. Most of the reverse, however, is gone; only the fraction and parts of the wreath are visible. The edge is plain, not gripped as found on nearly all of this variety.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Discovered by Mark Fladgard.

Realized $1,440
