Lot 163

1846 N-19 R4 MS60+. Glossy light bluish steel brown with 5% of the red remaining on the obverse, traces on the reverse. There is a tiny nick high on the cheekbone and a thin planchet lamination on the outer edge of the rim over NIT (looks like a small rim cud), as struck. Sharp E-MDS, die state b early. A fine die crack shows down from the wreath ribbon to the dentils below, but the crack up through E in STATES has not formed. The fields still display most of the fine die lines of the earliest state, and those fields are slightly reflective. Tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. Comes with an outstanding provenance. DWH #2058.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
