Lot 150

1848 N-18 R4 PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter steel brown toning in protected areas. Smooth and attractive displaying only a very light touch of wear on the highpoints. The notable defects are a shallow low spot on the front edge of the neck (caused by debris on the die) and a small splash of darker toning over the E in CENT. MDS, die state b late. The tops of the C & E in CENT are joined by crumbling and there is a faint wave in the field above star 11 to the main curl where a crack is forming. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50. CC#5 in the Grellman census for this tough die variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 62, 1 in 66 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $400-UP
