Lot 1426

1937. PCGS graded Proof 67. A brilliant untoned gem. In an OGH. A simply exquisite Superb coin, the glowing white surfaces seem to glisten with full, mirror deep luster. Proofs featuring the Mercury Dime (introduced in 1916, but not sold in Proof form until 1936) caused the Mint a lot of trouble. The new 20th century designs on the Nickels through Silver Dollars rendered them unsuitable for the usual cameo-on-mirror treatment seen in Barber coinage years. But through major effort, the Mint was able to overcome the obstacles and prodcued some truly gorgeous Proof Mercury Dimes. We offer a superb one with this Lot. Pop 197; 28 finer with 2 in 67+, 26 in 68 (PCGS # 5072) Estimated Value $600 - 650
