Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 2

Lot 1398

1879. PCGS graded Proof 65. Believe it or not, there are a fair number of these out there with higher numerical designations on them. We've all seen or heard about them. Some must have spectacular color as well. But don't discount the quality of the presently offered coin just because those others exist. For here is a really nice coin! The cataloguer finds the color of this coin to be especially beautiful and alluring. It consists of a lavender-gray, for want of a better term, that shows lots and lots of mirror reflectivity beneath it. In other words, not much is hiding back there. The reverse is even prettier, with some magenta and blue hues. Have a look for yourself!
