Silver 3-Kreuzer, or Carantani, 1848-GM, 1.59g. Laureate head right. Rev. Imperial eagle, value and date (Gig 7; KM 278). Good extremely fine with reflective fields, a little wear on highest points but an attractive specimen. Exceedingly rare in this condition. Siege Coinage produced while the city of Mantua was under siege from its own Austrian garrison lead by General C Gorzkowski. Mintage of 631 pieces only and most of these immediately withdrawn.
