Lot 1304

1864 Indian Head Cent. Bronze, with "L". NGC graded MS-66 Red & Brown. A splendid gem specimen exhibiting a full strike with delicate shades of red and brown over fully lustrous surfaces. Nearly superb quality, we're able to identify just three minute marks on the obverse, two below AT of STATES, and another on the cheek. The date digits and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, while clear are less than fully struck, perhaps not fully impressed into the working die. Key date with the L on the ribbon end below the last feather. Pop 22; none finer in Red & Brown.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,200.
The Carlsbad Collection.

Realized $1,898
