Lot 126

Flagg, James Montgomery (1877-1960) Painter, illustrator. Autograph Letter Signed, 1p, 11x*", n.p., 2 Mar. 39. Very Fine. A humorous reply to an autograph seeker, in part: "Certainly it's too much trouble!…I never send autographs to you fiends unless you enclose a stamped self addressed envelope. !" He then signs in full. With a Typed Note Signed with large red initials, on personal stationery, 1 p, 7x8½", New York City, 21 Nov. (19)48. Very good; light stain affects part of salutation to radio personality Mary Margaret McBride. "You confirm me in my misogyny. Who but a sadistic female would send an aging artist such foul snapshots of himself!"
Estimated Value $300 - 500.
