Ancient Greece. Lot of Six AR Coins, Mostly Tetradrachms, c. 335-83 BC. Lot worth a close look. Earliest tetradrachm is of Alexander III, of Macedon, 336-323 BC.: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin / Zeus enthroned left. Also Macedon, Under Roman Rule, after 168 BC.: Head of Artemis right / Club with wreath (SNG Cop. 1315). Plus a Drachm of Istrus, Moesia, 4th century BC.: Two facing heads, right inverted / Sea eagle and dolphin left (SNG Cop. 192). And more tetradrachms, starting with Athens, "New Style" Tetradrachm, c. 124/123 BC.: Dioscuri symbol on reverse (SNG Cop. 268). Also, Ionia, Ephesus, a Cistophoric Tetradrachm of 69 BC.: Cista Mystica / Snakes, and torch, cornucopiae, and thyrsus symbols (cf. SNG Cop. 334). And last, from Syria, Philip Philadelphos, 93-83 BC.: King's diademed head right / Zeus Nikephoros seated left (SNG Cop. 430). All well centered and lightly toned, but for Cistophoric, which has darker iridescent toning. Small bronze deposit at Philip's ear. Lot of 6 pieces. Attica Fine, the rest from Very Fine to about Extremely fine.
