Lot 125

1847 N-34 R5+ PCGS graded AU55+. Attractive frosty light chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth but there are some tiny contact marks. The best identifying marks are a tiny pinprick close under the earlobe and two very light rim bruises at AM. LDS, die state d. The dies are lapped and the reverse is cracked, although the final crack through the top of TE in STATES is faint. An important example of this rare variety. Our grade is VF35+, close to EF40, and CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $750-UP

Ex Doug Bird, 2000 EAC Sale 4/8/2000:393-Fred Iskra Collection (lot ticket included).
