Acarnania. Acarnanian Confederacy, 250-167 BC. AR Stater (9.79 g). Beardless head of river-god Achelous right; magistrate name behind. Reverse: Apollo Aktios enthroned left, holding bow; ethnic to right, monogram at left. BMC p. 168, 6; Pozzi 132, same reverse die. Attractive style. The reverse a late die state, with breaks beginning to form. Porosity to obverse and edges. Nicely toned. Very Fine.
