AN ANTIQUE VICTORIAN COPY OF A EUROPEAN CLOSE HELMET IN THE STYLE OF THE 16TH-17TH CENTURY. An antique Victorian (1840-1900) copy of a European Close Helmet made in the style of the 16th-17th century. Two-piece hand hammered skull joined along the crest of a low comb, visor, upper bever and lower bevor attached to the skull by bolts, the visor sloping forward, centrally-divided vision-slit, and the upper bevor pierced at each side with ventilation-holes, and a single deep gorget-plate front and rear with roped edges. No interior lining. Covered overall in a brown rust age patina. $1,500 - 3,000
