Lot 1145

1848 N-41 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to light olive and chocolate. Nearly a third of the original red remains on the obverse and 80% on the reverse. The toning in the field behind the head is a couple shades darker than the other toning on that side and there are two small spots left of star 1 plus one more right of star 13. Otherwise this cent is a gem and the reverse is flawless. E-MDS showing minor crumbling in the left notch of the second 8. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade, tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS in RB.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Teletrade 3/21/05.
