The Key Date 1877 in Gem Proof 65. NGC graded Proof 65. The key date to the series of Three Cent Nickels. Mintages plunged to just 510 coins (or so according to the Mint) and no coins of this denomination were made for circulation. Excellent surfaces and color, the only complaint is a small spot hidden on the dentils above the first S of STATES. An important and popular rarity that is seldom found in gem.
