Lot 1073

1851 N-33 R4 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. First 1 Repunched. Very attractive and highly lustrous bluish steel and light olive brown with subtle overtones of sea green added to the mix. A faint spot of reddish brown toning in the field over star 2 and some lighter brown toning in protected areas at the top of the wreath are the best identifying marks. M-LDS, die state b. The fine repunching along the base of the first 1 is visible but the additional repunching farther below the left end of the base of that 1 is gone. Very shallow low spots caused by debris on the dies cover the lower half of the neck and the field under ENT in CENT. Called MS64 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #30896. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
