Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 4

Lot 1062

1862 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. About a dozen tiny bagmarks can be found on the obverse under magnification, but this coin is stunning and a solid Gem. It is fully struck everywhere but for the center of the 4th star. A delightful bluish gold circles both peripheries, with blazing silvery centers which flash cartwheel luster. Low mintage, and few survived as struck--1862 was a murderous year in the Civil War; coin collecting was almost nonexistent.

Realized $10,063
