Lot 1045

1851 N-16 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. First 1 Repunched. Glossy chocolate brown with a relatively large spot of very fine carbon on the jawline. Frosty mint luster shows in the protected areas, but the spot is a big distraction on this otherwise attractive cent. Scarce EDS, die state a, with a horizontal line through the center of the first 1 from the base of a badly misplaced 1. Called AU55 and tied for CC#11 in the Noyes census, his photo #55132. Our grade is net AU50, tied for CC#14 in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex S. M. Koeppel 1938 (one of Ted's earliest purchases, for which he paid 75 cents).

Realized $253
