Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1288
1809, 9 over 8. PCGS graded MS-61. Lightly toned with rich orange-gold to copper tints on both sides. The strike is sharp on Liberty's curls and the surrounding stars, also on the eagle. Both dies show evidence of clashing together without a planchet between them, leaving their reverse impressions on each other ever so lightly. Traces of die rust are seen on the obverse, particularly around the drapery and on Liberty's neck. An impressive example of this scarce coin. Lovely golden toning. Pop 19; 84 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 8104) Estimate Value $10,000 - 11,000
