Anonymous. Pastoral Landscape. Beautiful oil on canvas, unsigned but clearly a very early 20th century painting recently re-stretched. On closer inspection, it appears the very tiny figures may be Mennonites given their headwear, but just too small to be certain. Nevertheless it is the beauty of the landscape captured in soft light while cattle graze near a stream and a farmer, his dog and family take in the beauty of the moment. Actual painting measures 16 x 20" framed to 21¾ x 25¾" that appears to be of considerable age. Painting has couple of surface blemishes and some crazing given the age but in no way impacts the appearance in any significant way. A lovely and idyllic piece of a time long since past. $600 - 800
