Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 444
1793 S-1 R4 Chain AMERI. Basal State-1. Slightly glossy very dark steel and olive brown, nearly black on all but the highpoints which are a lighter shade of chocolate brown. This cent is heavily worn. The date has been crudely reengraved and a leaf sprig similar to those seen on 1793 Wreath Cents has been added over the date. In addition some of the basic hair details have been crudely added as well. Fortunately much of the profile and face of Ms Liberty, traces of LIBERTY, the entire chain, and AMERI are still visible and the attribution is relatively easy. It's a dog, but it's still a 1793 Chain AMERI Cent. Estimated Value $500-UP
